Sometimes the ocean dosen't seem so big...

I am really happy with how as a community of humans we come together when there is a time of need. I am assuming everyone is aware (unless you live in a hole) about Haiti. I was listening to the radio yesterday and one of the DJ's made an awesome point. The Golden Globes are this Sunday and they are apparently giving 100,000 dollars to the Haiti relief and don't get me wrong I think that is great anything is better than nothing. The radio announcer then pointed out that each celebrity couple probably spends close to 1 million dollars on their dresses/tuxes, hair, jewelry etc... Then she suggested, that instead of getting all glammed up (and lets face it half of them end up getting put on the worst dressed list anyway), they should just go in jeans and t-shirt and donate that money to those in need in Haiti. Such a good idea...
One thing I will encourage you to do is not to forget the devastation that we have seen over the last few days in the papers and on the news. Because those people will still be suffering long after the TV cameras and photographers are gone, and one of our faults as people who have everything is that once CNN stops reporting it we stop thinking about it.
I had the privilege to go to Gulf port Mississippi and New Orleans twice after hurricane Katrina. While we were there we were being debriefed about the current situation, our instructor told us that it could take up to TEN YEARS to clean up hurricane Katrina, that blew my mind. It has been four years since that hurricane and there is still ALOT to do. When is the last time you saw CNN reporting on that area? When was the last time you heard of a need for volunteers for the people still trying to recover from Katrina... All I am saying is please remember Haiti in your prayers because sometimes I know that's all we can do...but remember them long after everyone else has forgotten...
